Description
First of all a list of files to scan must have been compiled as described in topic:
How to compile a list of files for find and replace operations ?
Then proceed as follows:
- Go to the
Find and Replace panel.
- Select (tick off) the
Use numbering option.
- The
Incremental Numbering panel is now enabled.
- In this panel, in the
Pattern text box, provide a string of your choice e.g. XXX
- In the replacement text (
Replace by string or Replacement block ) insert that string where you want the incremental number to be inserted.
- In the
Start value field, specifies the number at which increments must start.
- In the
Increment field, specifies the increment value.
- Proceed with the replace operation.
REMARK
The numbering can be optionnally reset to the Start value for each files in which occurrences are found. For that purpose, simply check (tick off) the Reset numbering across files option.
